Rome, Italy, 16 October 2026 – Masturakhon Sayfutdinova, a farmer and agricultural entrepreneur from Uzbekistan and head of the Quva Anori agrifirm, was honoured through the FAO 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development initiative. The recognition ceremony took place on 15 October at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, as part of the World Food Forum.
Launched to mark the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, the initiative celebrates women whose work, leadership and innovation have made outstanding contributions to agriculture, agrifood systems and rural development. Sayfutdinova is among the initiative’s inaugural group of 100 honourees.
Her work is closely linked to the development of Uzbekistan’s fruit production sector, particularly pomegranate cultivation. Under her leadership, Quva Anori has invested in advanced production practices, orchard development and post-harvest infrastructure. This approach helps reduce losses, preserve product quality and improve access to markets.
Her initiatives have contributed to strengthening horticultural value chains, creating employment opportunities and increasing the export potential of Uzbek produce. The adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices also supports the enterprise’s long-term sustainability.
“For me, this recognition brings a great responsibility and encouragement to share my experience more widely with other farmers. When women farmers have greater access to knowledge, modern technologies and financial resources, they can develop their farms and contribute more to the well-being of rural communities,” said Masturakhon Sayfutdinova, head of the Quva Anori agrifirm. Sayfutdinova’s contribution extends beyond her business. Through publications, farmer training and mentoring, she shares her knowledge and practical experience with other growers. These activities support the adoption of modern agricultural technologies and contribute to the development of the wider sector.
FAO recognized Sayfutdinova’s leadership, dedication and tangible contributions to strengthening agrifood systems. Her work to improve rural livelihoods, protect natural resources and create opportunities for future generations was also acknowledged.
The 100 Women Heroes initiative honours women working across different stages of agrifood value chains. Their contributions include expanding market access, preserving traditional knowledge, safeguarding natural resources, and creating employment and learning opportunities for rural communities.
Sayfutdinova’s international recognition highlights the experience, entrepreneurship and leadership of women in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector. Her work demonstrates how knowledge, innovation and the sharing of practical experience can contribute to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.
