     In the conference hall of the International Nordic University in Tashkent, work is in full swing: young journalists and students are learning from professionals how to operate in the modern media environment and to produce high-quality content \u2013 engaging, objective and, most importantly, reliable news stories, video reports and other media materials.<\/div>\r\n
 <\/div>\r\n
     The five-day course, \u201cModern Media: Law, Security and Digital Tools\u201d, runs from 2 to 5 December. It has been organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, the Public Foundation for Support and Development of National Mass Media, the International Nordic University and the Modern Journalism Development Centre.<\/div>\r\n
 <\/div>\r\n
     Participants study the basics of media legislation and learn how to obtain information from government agencies. One aspect of the training focuses on ethics and information security through real-life cases and practical discussions.  Another is fact-checking \u2013 the verification of information and the identification of possible misinformation. This is a key skill for today\u2019s journalists.<\/div>\r\n
 <\/div>\r\n
     Special attention is devoted to digital technologies and artificial intelligence, which have become a part of our daily lives. AI tools can help journalists generate ideas and create content, but their use raises ethical questions about privacy, their capacity to create \u201cdeep-fake\u201d videos and photos, and the unremunerated use of copyrighted content.<\/div>\r\n

     Under the guidance of experts, the young journalists learn how to shoot high-quality video on smartphones, create content for social media and analyze audience metrics.<\/div>\r\n

     The five-day course aims to develop not just professional skills but also critical thinking and responsibility. The training also aligns with the \u201c16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence\u201d campaign, which this year draws attention to digital violence, underlining the relevance of discussions around media literacy, online safety and responsible content creation.<\/div>\r\n
