In accordance with the decree of the head of state dated April 3, 2019 «On measures to further reform the chemical industry and increase its investment attractiveness», a 51% of a share capital in the authorized capital of the joint venture Kungrad Soda Plant LLC was sold to a foreign investor. This was an important step in the search for an uninterrupted solution to the problems accumulated over the years in the economy of the enterprise, improving its material and technical base based on the requirements of the time.
Our conversation with Azizkhan SAIDOV, Deputy General Director of Kungrad Soda Plant JSC for Financial and Economic Affairs, was devoted to the same topic.
– Azizkhan Kahramonovich, the chemical industry is one of the main sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan. Therefore, it is natural that our state pays great attention to the development of this sector. What has changed in the life of the enterprise in the past short time, when 51% of the shares of the Kungrad Soda Plant were bought by the UAE NCV International DMCC in 2021?
– At the moment, the annual capacity of our enterprise for the production of soda ash is 200 thousand tons. But as a result of erosion and physical deterioration of technological equipment and pipes involved in the production process, under the influence of aggressive process fluids for many years it was not possible to fully use the available capacity, the figure in this regard was going around 75-80 percent. Daily production volumes fell from the design 600 tons to 470 tons.
After the 51% share of the charter capital of the plant was sold to a foreign investor, first of all, an effective management system was introduced, and a program of measures was developed to eliminate existing problems and improve the company’s health. For its implementation in 2021, 3.0 million dollars were allocated and major repairs were carried out. As a result, the stability of soda ash production was ensured, and the daily output was increased to 600 tons of the project.
In order to provide the production with high-quality raw materials, the Barsakelmes salt mine has been operated a salt treatment plant that has not been working since 2015. As a result, the number of solids that do not dissolve in salt was reduced from 3.8-4.0 percent to 0.9-1.0 percent. And, in its turn, had a positive impact on the extension of the eligibility period of the main equipment in production.
Moreover, in December of last year, we launched the table salt production workshop, whose activities have stopped over the years on the balance sheet of society, by re-repairing it with our own strength. As a result, it was able to employ 12 people at this department, to produce and deliver to customers up to 850 tons of refined ground table salt per month.
The increase in income indicators, of course, is an important factor in improving the material and social situation of about 2 thousand employee workers who are currently working at the plant. In 2021, compared to 2020 the average salary per employee increased by 14% , this year it increased by another 20% compared to last year.
– Good condition of the equipment, provides advanced technical capabilities of the quality of the products. Based on this, could you tell us about the funds that are used to modernize production facilities?
