The automotive industry in Uzbekistan is much more than the country’s leading industry. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 18, 2019 No. PD-4397, further development of the automotive industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan includes such areas as increasing its export potential, improving regulatory and technical framework, increasing investment attractiveness and financial stability, as well as, undoubtedly, development of human resources in the entire sphere.
The JSC “Uzavtosanoat” is a company which includes a number of the country’s largest enterprises for production of cars, trucks and special equipment, as well as enterprises for localization and production of auto components. In addition, the structure of the company includes educational institutions, a leasing company and enterprises for production of consumer goods. That is why “Uzavtosanoat” is entrusted with the tasks set by the President and the Government of the country for the development of the automotive industry.
The accomplishment of the assigned tasks in accordance with the requirements of the time is best achieved by joint efforts, using the experience of technologically developed countries. In the process of creating such a large-scale automobile industry, Uzbekistan has chosen the Federal Republic of Germany as one of its strategic partners, which has many years of experience in the development of high-tech projects.
The activities of the JV “Uz Truck & Bus Motors LLC”
In 2009, due to the growing demand for large-capacity trucks for the industrial complex of the country, as well as for further development of the automotive industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a joint venture “JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan” — now “Uz Truck & Bus motors JV LLC” was established in Samarkand region through partnership of the joint-stock company “Uzavtosanoat” with the German “MAN Truck and Bus SE”, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles.
The JV “Uz Truck & Bus motors LLC” is the sole manufacturer of heavy-duty and passenger vehicles MAN and Sinotruk in the Central Asian region with a carrying capacity of 5 to 70 tons.
The production concept of the enterprise includes a complete chain of the technological process, which begins with the assembly of the frame, installation of the main power units and the cabin, with the final test of the finished equipment on a test bench. In 2015, the company mastered the production process of the MAN CLA model range, which includes welding, painting, and assembly processes.
A great achievement of the company is the start, since 2016, of serial production of MAN A22 low-floor city buses running on compressed natural gas and MAN RR2 COACH intercity buses. The launch of this production marked the acquisition by the plant of the status of a center for production of buses of various modifications in the entire region of Central Asia.
At the end of 2019, in Tashkent, an Agreement was signed on the establishment of a joint venture between the JSC “Uzavtosanoat”, “Sinotruk International Investment Limited” (China) and “MAN Truck & Bus SE” (Germany). As a result, the JV “MAN Auto-Uzbekistan” continued its operations as a new enterprise – the JV “Uz Truck & Bus Motors LLC” and expanded the product range.
“Uz Truck & Bus Motors” operates in Uzbekistan through a partner network of more than 30 dealer and service stations throughout the country. To provide a good customer service and professional development of the staff, dealers are trained annually with the involvement of qualified trainers from Germany. In addition, under the Memorandum of Cooperation on establishment of the MAN Academy, signed between “MAN Truck & Bus AG”, the JV “MAN Auto-Uzbekistan LLC” and Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, a training center was created, the main activity of which is to conduct seminars for personnel of MAN service and dealer centers. The Academy is equipped with modern equipment and tools, various stands and units, as well as a classroom for seminars that can accommodate more than 10 participants at a time. Seminars are conducted by qualified specialists who have passed the relevant Train-the-Trainer trainings at the MAN Academy of the leading countries of the world.
The purpose of “Uz Truck & Bus Motor’” participation in exhibitions is to strengthen business contacts, create joint production and expand cooperation between countries. The company is a regular participant in specialized exhibitions, including exhibitions held in Uzbekistan, as well as in other countries. So, in 2018, representatives of the company demonstrated the equipment at the Bus World International Exhibition, held in Almaty. This spring, the company presented its equipment at the INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition, which took place in Tashkent. More than 300 industrial companies from Russia, Uzbekistan, France, Kazakhstan and Belarus took part in the exhibition.
