Gold and foreign exchange reserves again exceeded $35 billion due to gold

     Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange reserves reached $35.14 billion at the beginning of 2022. In December, gold reserves increased by 6.2 tons. Over the past year, reserves have increased by 1%.
     The official reserve assets of Uzbekistan as of January 1, 2022 amounted to $ 35.14 billion, an increase of $ 389.8 million over the month, according to the Central Bank.
     The physical volume of gold in reserves stopped declining and increased 0.2 million troy ounces (about 6.2 tons) to 11.6 million troy ounces (about 360.8 tons). The value of gold in reserves increased by $ 508.6 million to $20.95 billion.
     Foreign currency reserves in December decreased by $117.9 million to $13.07 billion.
     Gross international reserves in 2021 increased by $ 235.2 million, or 1%. As the Central Bank notes, this was influenced by the quotations of gold, which fell from $ 1891.1 at the beginning of the year to $ 1799.25. The impact of this fall was $1.06 billion.
