Opening of ” BMB AGRO PLUS” Enterprise Specializing in Deep Processing of Agricultural Products

“Entrepreneurship development is a strategic task for us,” stated the Head of State during a meeting with entrepreneurs on December 20, 2024. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan emphasized that entrepreneurs are the backbone and hope of the country’s economy, and, therefore, business support should become a daily responsibility for leaders at all levels.
As a result of political decisions and measures taken by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to support entrepreneurship, BMB HOLDING has begun implementing practical steps towards the establishment of clusters in the food production, fruit, vegetable, and medicinal plant sectors. This direction has become the core business activity of the Holding. In particular, the Holding is focused on developing agriculture as one of the key sectors of the country’s economy alongside other industries.
The commissioning of the BMB AGRO PLUS enterprise marks the final stage of the Holding’s seven-year strategic program in the agricultural sector. At the first stage, in cooperation with farmers, dekhkan farms, and private households in six districts of the Jizzakh region, a process was established to grow vegetables and fruits on nearly 30,000 hectares of land based on contractual agreements.
The second stage involved the establishment of a system in which sorted products are directed for export through the joint Uzbek-Russian venture BMB NRC AGROLOGISTICS, which has the capacity to store up to 10,000 tons of vegetables and fruits in specialized refrigeration chambers. The sorted products are also supplied to the domestic market, while the remaining portion is sent to BMB AGRO PLUS for deep processing. The total value of this interconnected agro-economic chain is 1.5 trillion Uzbek sums (USD 115.3 million), making the project one of the largest and most unique not only in Uzbekistan but throughout Central Asia.
It is also worth noting that greenhouses have been established at the BMB AGRO PLUS facility to increase production efficiency, where high-quality seedlings, most suitable for deep processing, are grown. The uniqueness of the process lies in the fact that it is fully controlled by the Holding, from seeds and seedlings to finished deep-processed products, ensuring high yield and production of top-quality goods.
The total cost of the project is USD 40.7 million (524 billion sums), of which USD 16.6 million (214 billion sums) is financed by a loan from JSC “Uzsanatkurilishbank”, and USD 24.1 million (310 billion sums) is financed by the Holding’s own funds. The enterprise, built on a 10-hectare site, is equipped with modern technological equipment from leading companies in Belgium, Austria, Italy, Turkey, and China. The production capacity is 120,000 tons of deep-processed fruit and vegetable products annually. The plant performs storage, drying, sublimation, shock freezing, and acoustic freezing of fruits and vegetables, as well as the production of purees, jams, tomato paste, and other products. Additionally, there is a capacity to store over 1,000 tons of products in refrigerated chambers.
It is important to note that enterprises equipped with such advanced technologies require a significant amount of electricity. It is well known that a “green economy” is an economic model that ensures sustainable development without harm to the environment. In this regard, 25% of the enterprise’s energy needs are currently met through alternative energy sources, such as solar panels. The plan is to increase this percentage to 100% within the next three years.
BMB AGRO PLUS is also equipped with the latest laboratory equipment imported from abroad. Each batch of products undergoes multi-stage laboratory testing before being processed in the production cycle.
In recent years, Uzbekistan’s food industry has been developing in line with international standards, which in turn requires a more stringent approach to quality control by large agro-industrial enterprises. In this connection, after thorough examination of the activities of BMB AGRO PLUS, specializing in deep processing, drying, sublimation, shock freezing, and acoustic freezing of agricultural products, BMB HOLDING received the international ISO 22000 certification.
This is yet another successful step in promoting not only the Holding but also the agricultural products of our country on the international market. Obtaining the ISO 22000 certification is not only a mark of quality but also one of the key requirements for entering the international market. Moreover, all products undergoing deep processing at the enterprise have compliance certificates. These factors create additional opportunities for exporting BMB AGRO PLUS products to various countries around the world.
It should be noted that the implementation of this project will have a positive impact on increasing regional export volumes, foreign currency inflows, and economic growth indicators. It will also contribute to the creation of new jobs, employment for youth and women. The launch of this enterprise will create 650 permanent jobs and more than 2,000 seasonal jobs.
In conclusion, it can be said that the policy of producing high-quality and safe food products, pursued by the Holding, will form a strong foundation for entering new markets and promoting the Uzbekistan brand on the international stage.
